The Bishop's Palace
Wells

This visit is now full, but Gill is happy to take names for a waiting list.

Wednesday 12th July 2023

Full day visit to Wells, with a visit to the Bishop's Palace.

This full day visit shows the Palace Gardens at their summer best, and we will enjoy a conducted tour of the building. Residents of the Palace Moat include swans summoned to feed by a bell. There is opportunity to spend free time in the gardens as well as seeing the nearby Cathedral, and Vicars' Close, used in many films and television sets. The Wednesday Market Day is held just outside the gatehouse to the Palace grounds. The city is the smallest free standing in England with a population of less than 11,000 and easy to walk around.

In addition to the Bishop's Table cafe at the gardens, there are many outlets in the city centre, or you may wish to take a picnic lunch.

NB.  Not included: refreshments or lunch.

Members only booking until 22nd June. Booking closes 30th June.

Note that the coach park is some 10 minutes walk from the Palace, across a cobbled roadway.

It is advisable that you complete and bring an “In Case of Emergency” (ICE) form on the day.  The ICE form can be downloaded by clicking on the button below. The form is a note of your essential medical details in the unfortunate event of an accident or illness during the visit, when it would be passed to paramedics.  It is not read by any of our Society.
