Tapestry Weaving Workshop

FULL DAY TAPESTRY WEAVING WORKSHOP

Tuesday 21st May 2024

With SARAH BEADSMOORE

At Cirencester Baptist Church, Chesterton Lane, Cirencester Glos, GL7 1YE

We are delighted that Sarah Beadsmoore, a member of our Committee is trialling the idea of hands on workshops, starting with a tapestry weaving one, led by Sarah herself.

Sarah is a textile designer/weaver and used to have a studio at New Brewery Arts in Cirencester. She now works from home, weaving silk scarves. She has also done tapestry weaving, having learned the techniques at West Dean College near Chichester, home to the only professional tapestry studio in England.

On this workshop, you will be able to make at least one bookmark sample, using a simple wooden frame, using cotton and wool yarn. You will learn the main techniques – the same as were used hundreds of years ago to make the glorious tapestry wall hangings seen in so many of our great houses.
