Georgia O'Keeffe Exhibition

Georgia O’Keeffe: Memories of Drawings

at New Brewery Arts, Cirencester

Friday, 3rd May 2024 (6 – 8pm)

An evening private view with drinks & canapés

Following our April talk about the American artist Georgia O’Keeffe, we are delighted to host a private event with New Brewery Arts who are presenting a new touring exhibition from the Hayward Gallery at the Southbank Centre, London.

Beth Alden, the CEO of NBA will give us an introduction to the exhibition at 7.00pm.

The exhibition showcases twenty-one photogravures of drawings produced by the artist between 1915-1963.  This reflects the period in which the artist established herself as a major figure in American Modernism.  Georgia O’Keeffe used drawing as a language to evoke important moments and emotions.  The works in this exhibition demonstrate O’Keeffe’s distinctive style and chart the key trajectories and motifs in her practice.

Photogravure is a printmaking process that produces etchings with the tone and detail of a photograph through exposure onto a copper plate.  The exhibition includes nine prints of her earliest charcoal abstracts alongside works originally rendered in pencil and watercolour, capturing subjects ranging from the artist’s early morning excursions with her sister, to surreal still lifes of seashells, banana flowers and animal horns.

Members only booking until 31st March 2024.

Booking closes 26th April 2024.
