KINGSTON LACY and RUSSELL-COTES ART GALLERY and MUSEUM
Wednesday 17th June 2026
We are delighted to offer a full day visit by coach to Kingston Lacy, a beautiful house with a fabulous collection of paintings and a fascinating history. William John Bankes created the house we see today between 1834 and his death in 1855. Forced into exile, he lived in Venice and remodelled the house from afar, creating lavishly decorated interiors and sending remarkable paintings and furniture home from his exile.
On arrival, we can visit the café for tea and coffee (not included) and then proceed to the House for a self-guided tour with very knowledgeable guides available in all rooms.
Kingston Lacy is a National Trust property so this visit is free to members of the National Trust – non-members will be charged an additional £21.85 for entry.
We will leave Kingston Lacy at around 12.15- 12.30 and proceed to Bournemouth for a sandwich lunch, tea and coffee at Russell-Cotes Museum and Art Gallery. You are then free to wander around the Gallery or take part in an optional tour, “A Victorian Villa” which will cost an additional £6.00.
The Russell-Cotes Art Gallery & Museum is an historic house and art gallery given by Sir Merton Russell-Cotes to his wife Annie for her 66th birthday. They filled their exotic seaside villa with beautiful objectsfrom their travels and lined the walls with a remarkable collection of British art. You are able to choose to take part in the talk/tour or enjoy the house and its terrace overlooking the sea and beaches of Bournemouth.
We will aim to depart Bournemouth at around 4.00pm to return to Cirencester.
