We are delighted to offer a visit to see a matinee performance (starts 2.30pm) of Matthew Bourne’s award winning The Car Man at the Bristol Hippodrome. This is a ballet loosely based on Bizet’s ever-popular Carmen.
The familiar 19th Century Spanish cigarette factory in Carmen becomes a greasy 1950s garage-diner in the American Mid-West where the dreams and passions of a small-town are shattered by the arrival of a handsome and enigmatic stranger. Fuelled by heat and desire, the inhabitants are driven into an unstoppable spiral of greed, lust, betrayal and revenge.

We have reserved 50 Grand Circle Seats and those who wish to see the ballet must have signed up and paid by 28th April 2026 as the seats are only held for us by the Hippodrome until then.
The coach will drop us off at Cabot Circus for an opportunity to look round the city centre and for coffee and lunch (at own expense) and there will be 15 min walk to the Bristol Hippodrome for the matinee performance – please arrive by 2.10pm.
